Meet the cast of SOME MEN!

JIM SANTELLE

What characters do you play in SOME MEN?

Aaron, Tommy's Dad, Buffed in Chelsea, Trey and Joseph.

Briefly tell us a little bit about yourself...

My most recent accomplishments include finishing 33rd in a local mini-triathlon (okay, all of the entrants together totaled 56) and commemorating with friends the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare (I have leftover “Bard” lapel buttons—useful as wardrobe accessories for many occasions; okay, really only a very few).

Have you worked with Theatrical Tendencies before?

Yes!  In Geoffrey Nauffts’ Next Fall, I played a seemingly unredeemable but ultimately redeemed father named “Butch.”

Tell us about your favorite character that you play in SOME MEN:

One of the two characters that I play not expressly identified by an individual name, “Tommy’s Dad” is one who (in only a few brief lines) combines profound loss, superficial denial, intellectual revelation, and unresolved relationship with a son who he never really knew—or perhaps knew all too well. Those are the kinds of things that, in intriguing combinations, animate the lives of many Americans.

What is something that you didn’t know about gay life in the past century that you’ve learned from SOME MEN:

I can now recite the titles of the first three musicals to win the Pulitzer Prize (eat your heart out, “Hamilton” creators!) and can identify the borough of New York City in which Walt Whitman lived. A bit more seriously (but much related to these), I’ve acquired an enhanced appreciation for the role that some of the script-identified authors and their works both imitated life and made new art in the lives of all of us. (E.M. Forster, anyone?)

Why should audiences come and see SOME MEN:

Two motivations, surely among many, compelling others: First, the challenging opportunity to witness (and keep track of!) some 43 engaging and instructive characters played by only nine—count ‘em, nine—live human beings. Second, a thoughtful, humorous, didactic, provoking, and ultimately renewing theater experience that relies on the stories of our past and our present to give us some direction on what our future—nationally and in our worldwide community of women and men—should be.

Meet the cast of SOME MEN!

JESSE KAPLAN

What characters do you play in SOME MEN?

Marcus, Snake, Alex, Angel Eyes, Brad, Seb and Gordon.

Briefly tell us a little bit about yourself...

Some of my hobbies include, running, biking, health and fitness, plants and theater.

Have you worked with Theatrical Tendencies before?

This is my first time working with Theatrical Tendencies!

Tell us about your favorite character that you play in SOME MEN.

I think my favorite character is Angel Eyes, the torch singer in a 1930's nightclub in Harlem.

What is something that you didn't know about "gay life" in the past century that you've learned from SOME MEN.

I realized how we should appreciate the road that was paved for us to have the rights we have today and to be able to live a little bit more comfortably as gay people.

Why should audiences come and see SOME MEN?

The show is both fun and serious at the same time. It takes you back in time and shows you how we have gotten to where we are now.

Meet the cast of SOME MEN!

BILL MORRIS

What characters do you play in SOME MEN?

Paul, Michael, Will, Cliff, Lester, Richard and Dick

Briefly tell us a little bit about yourself...

I love to cook and food is something that is constantly on my mind (seriously, I may have a problem).  I'm always wanting to try new things that I haven't before.  Luckily I work all day with great people who also love talking about (and eating!) food.

Have you worked with Theatrical Tendencies before?

No.  It's been a lot of fun working and performing with everyone!

Tell us about a favorite character that you play in SOME MEN.

My favorite is Paul.  I enjoy that his story shows so many different parts of his relationship with someone named Tommy.   Not only of the love and happiness they shared but also the loss and acceptance of their relationship.

What is something that you didn't know about "gay life" in the past century that you've learned from SOME MEN?

This show has made me look more closely at the history of HIV/AIDS in the gay community.  I quickly realized that while I had learned about the subject, I didn't have any perspective or idea of what it actually meant to be living through something that difficult.

Why should audiences come and see SOME MEN?

I'd say because I think this show really does a great job of presenting different aspects of "gay life" in heartfelt stories that people can relate to.

Meet the cast of SOME MEN!

Clarence 'Sammy' Aumend

What characters do you play in SOME MEN?

Marty, Camus, Archie (Roxie) and Scoop.

Briefly tell us a little bit about yourself...

I work as an Information Technology Specialist (a geek). I love to go Karaoke with friends and I am an Ordained Minister and a Wedding DJ (yes you can hire me to do both at the same time!).

Have you worked with Theatrical Tendencies before?

This is the first time that I have worked with Theatrical Tendencies and I'm having a blast working with them and all the awesome actors!

Tell us about a favorite character that you play in SOME MEN.

There are a couple of characters that are my favorites because they are so different, but Camus has to be a favorite because I remember internet chatting for hours on end! It was so long ago… well… OK… last night!! LOL!

What is something that you didn't know about "gay life" in the past century that you've learned from SOME MEN?

I am a very open person and have a lot of gay friends and also a gay son. There is still a lot to learn about ‘gay life’.  I think it’s more than the ten-thousand-foot view most people see but more about the one foot we don’t see. Viewing everyone the same and loving them no matter what.

Why should audiences come and see SOME MEN?

Well besides me being in it?! (that was a joke… or maybe…) I would say that this is a play that will make people laugh, cry and think about the men whose stories affected a lot of people.

Meet the cast of SOME MEN!

KEVIN J. GADZALINSKI

What characters do you play in SOME MEN?

Fritz, Zach, David, Jackson, Nurse Jack and Louis.

Briefly tell us a little bit about yourself...

I give wonderful customer service. I am prone to spontaneous singing and awkward dancing. I speak in movie quotes and song lyrics. I workout to Japanese metal music. I arrange dramatic scenes with action figures. I'm a bisexual boy and I love alliteration.

Have you worked with Theatrical Tendencies before?

Yes! This is my fourth Tt show on stage. I've also run tech in the booth and have done crew work for a few other Tt shows.

Tell us about your favorite character that you play in SOME MEN.

I probably like Zach the best. He's smart and masculine and confident. He's sure of his sex appeal and passionate about his cause. I admire that because there are times when I am very self conscious and wish I had something more to fight for.

What is something that you didn't know about "gay life" in the past century that you've learned from SOME MEN.

It will forever be my first introduction to the bathhouse experience, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Why should audiences come to see SOME MEN?

I think there's enough variety that gay people will find some situation to identify with. It also allows people to develop an appreciation for the lives of "some men" throughout history. Plus people get to see me in next to no clothing, if you're into that sort of thing.

Meet the Cast of STOP KISS!

AMANDA CARSON

YOUR ROLE IN STOP KISS:

Callie

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I am currently a Visual Merchandiser for H&M, so I spend a lot of time playing dress up with mannequins. As well as a passion for theatre and music, I love reading, writing, exercising, and relaxing.  My favorite shows are The Office, Friends, and Law & Order: SVU - Olivia Benson is my spirit animal.

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

Yes!  I worked with Tt on [TITLE OF SHOW] (Heidi) and NEXT FALL (Holly).

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN STOP KISS.

Callie is a little difficult to figure out, but that's what I like about her.  We are all a little difficult to figure out, especially, at times, within our own minds.  At one moment we are sure about who we are, the next moment we have no idea - and sometimes we learn more about ourselves when we finally open up to someone else.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT STOP KISS?

I like plays that seem to just watch people for awhile.  Yes there is a dramatic overlay, but it's simply humans interacting with other humans, moving through life, navigating complication, celebration, and exploration.

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE STOP KISS?

Come learn about these people!  I don't have anything super enticing, I just think you should come to watch these lives for a little bit.

Meet the Cast of STOP KISS!

AMBER SMITH

YOUR ROLE IN STOP KISS:

Sara

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I work as a dietitian for my "big girl job", I love to cook, run, travel, and act!

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

First time with TT!  :)

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN STOP KISS.

Sara's a small-town girl coming into her own.  You'd think she'd be naive growing up in a small place, but she has direction, ambition, and really sees people for who they are.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT STOP KISS?

All of the connections.  The characters are inter-connected in all different ways and I appreciate being able to see the different facets of their relationships.  It's reflective of real life - we all have different people in our lives for different reasons.

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE STOP KISS?

Audiences should come see STOP KISS because it's true to life, the characters are endearing, and the messages are impactful.

Meet the Cast of STOP KISS!

RAYMOND SARTLER

YOUR ROLE IN STOP KISS:

George

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I work in sales.  My passions and hobbies revolve around the arts--whether it be illustrating, design, acting, or singing.  And I have the unique talent of being self-deprecating.  I'm pretty awful.  Come see the show.

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

Surprisingly, this is the second time Theatrical Tendencies has risked casting me.  I once fumbled around on stage as Luke in Milwaukee's premier of NEXT FALL.  I have loved working alongside the talented people of this organization and look forward to pestering them some more.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN STOP KISS.

George is that guy in your life that you feel most comfortable around.  The one you have the easiest bond with; who understands you more than you understand yourself; who you can count on to be there through the good, the bad, the ugly.  He's your best friend.  He's--sure--the guy you might also sleep with here-and-there (because you're so close to him and...well, he's good at it, y'know?). But not the guy you date, because that's weird somehow and...he doesn't really have his shit together.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT STOP KISS?

There's a hesitance in STOP KISS that is so familiar.  A hesitance to love.  A hesitance to share.  A hesitance to be yourself.  The journey to lay comfortability aside and go for what you truly want is shown in honest, daily existences.

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE STOP KISS?

Besides the indomitable talent of the cast and crew?  Or the fact that you'd be supporting both local theatre and the LGBTQ community?  The show is beautifully coordinated, both in writing by Diana Son and in directing by Mark Neufang.  It's funny, sad, comfortable, and appropriately awkward.  Feel it!  See it!  Then, tell all your friends!

Meet the Cast of STOP KISS!

JOEL MARINAN

YOUR ROLE IN STOP KISS:

Peter

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I am currently in my 17th year of teaching Kindergarten for the Wauwatosa School District. I was recently named a recipient of the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship for excellence in teaching. I have been a volunteer for the Miss Wisconsin Organization since 1998 and I have served on judges’ panels for Miss America local pageants in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Virginia. I am getting married to my fiancé, James Nathan, in August.

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

This is my third production with Tt. My previous roles with Tt include: CORPUS CHRISTI (James) and THE NORMAL HEART (Mickey Marcus).

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN STOP KISS.

Peter is Sara’s ex-boyfriend from St. Louis. He’s a well-meaning guy who sees himself as Sara’s protector– despite the fact that she’s uprooted herself to move to New York and ended their relationship. Even though Peter now finds himself without Sara, he still has deep feelings for her. The two biggest challenges Peter faces are his need to bring Sara back to St. Louis and Callie, the one person who stands in his way.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT STOP KISS?

I really appreciate (the playwright) Diana Son’s honesty and humor. She tells the story of two women who happen to find one another at just the right time in their lives. The story isn’t told chronologically– it jumps back and forth in time– filling in the gaps with some wonderfully humorous and heartfelt moments. While STOP KISS does wander through some difficult subjects, it isn’t a play about coming out or hate crimes. It’s a story about how the choices we make and the people we love shape who we are and how we see the world around us.

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE STOP KISS?

When audiences come to see STOP KISS, they should expect to see a story about a mosaic of individuals whose lives are brought together by acts of love and violence. It’s a story about new love, trauma, shattered dreams and finding the strength within ourselves to keep moving forward.

Meet the Cast of STOP KISS!

JOAN END

YOUR ROLE IN STOP KISS:

Mrs. Winsley

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I'm from New Jersey and came to Milwaukee to attend Marquette. I've got four great kids and seven (almost eight) of the cutest, smartest grandchildren ever! My husband and I love to travel and are enthusiastic Marquette basketball fans.  When I am not in a play, I am at a play. Milwaukee has amazing theatre!

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

This is my first show with TT, but I have enjoyed being in their audience numerous times. Loved THE NORMAL HEART!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN STOP KISS.

Mrs. Winsley is probably the lady who knows everything that is going on in the building. She has a few challenges in her own life, but she comes to the girls' rescue and continues to care about them. Without knowing it, some of her words make quite an impact on Callie.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT STOP KISS?

The characters seem very real to me and I like the way the play progresses from past to present!  It's serious, but funny.  We can all identify with its broader themes.

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE STOP KISS?

It is a love story!

Meet the Cast of STOP KISS!

TOM NASTACHOWSKI

YOUR ROLE IN STOP KISS:

Detective Cole

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I'm a volunteer conductor for the East Troy Electric Railroad Museum.

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

This is my first show with Theatrical Tendencies and... well, ever!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN STOP KISS.

Detective Cole is a job driven cop. He just wants all the answers, even if it means being harsh to the wrong people.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT STOP KISS?

STOP KISS shows how relationships with people are ever-changing, and that love hits us in the most unpredictable ways.

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE STOP KISS?

You need to come see STOP KISS because it has everything: drama, tragedy, humor, and most importantly - a well dressed cop.

AMIE LOSI

YOUR ROLE IN STOP KISS:

Nurse

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I'm the mom of 3 incredible children: Hannah, 23, Jack, 20, and Alex, 18.

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

This is my first and proudest time working with Tt!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN STOP KISS.

I love this role. I picture this nurse as totally accepting of every one of her patients, no matter who they are. I see her as I would see myself in this situation - her patients are people first and foremost and need to be loved and cared for no matter why or how they ended up in her care.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT STOP KISS?

I love the straightforwardness and honesty of the show.

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE STOP KISS?

Audiences should be exposed to all lifestyles, all stories, all people - and support LOCAL theater!

JIM LAUTENBACH

Role

David in THE SANTALAND DIARIES

Favorite holiday song?

"Early Christmas Morning" by Cyndi Lauper (YouTube it!)

Favorite holiday movie?

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Favorite holiday tradition?

I've done different things on Christmas Day, but I've spent every Christmas Eve of my life with my parents and brothers and sisters at one of their homes, chowing down and exchanging gifts. I think just simply gathering together with my favorite people in the whole world like this is my favorite tradition.

How are you spending the holidays this year?

We'll do Christmas Eve in the country with my family, then we'll hit the road and get to my partner's family's celebration as early as possible on Christmas Day. It's a good amount of travel — but not as much as Santa!

Why should audiences come see THE SANTALAND DIARIES and SEASON’S GREETINGS?

A lot of Christmas presentations put a tinselly gloss on holiday fare, and I guess that's something to strive toward. But if you're like me, someone who takes delight and sees something "real" in the authentic hustle and bustle and pomp and circumstance of the season (even when they tend toward the crazy or wacky), you'll appreciate these stories for what they are: Genuine stories about the holidays bringing out the worst in us while they bring out the best in us.

Favorite holiday movie?

Favorite holiday tradition?

How are you spending the holidays this year?

At home with friends and family

Why should audiences come see THE SANTALAND DIARIES and SEASON’S GREETINGS?

Some of us aren’t really into Miracle on 34th Street or The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. This show is for THOSE people! (You know who you are!)

Meet the Cast of NEXT FALL!

RaymondSartler

Raymond Sartler

Your role in NEXT FALL:

Luke

Briefly tell us a little about yourself (job, hobbies, passions, unique talents, etc).

I'm a Milwaukeean humbled by small town roots. In such a way that I know how to parallel park but am still amazed I don't have to drive two towns over to catch a movie. I grew up investing time into all kinds of art: music, theatre, writing, drawing, and more. It all stuck with me, and I'm happiest when I'm practicing my creativity.  The most important thing I want people to know is I loathe decorum. I'm unapologetic about it. And I'm on Twitter. @rjsartler #nextfall

Have you worked with Tt before?

I'm new!  The talented people of Theatrical Tendencies have so warmly welcomed me and it has been a wonderful privilege working with them.  I think they brought me on because I'll make these already talented people look even better in comparison.

Tell us a little bit about your character in NEXT FALL.

There's a simplicity and generosity in Luke, an aspiring actor, that made him so fun for me to connect to.  Luke is a gay Christian (even though I've seen plenty of bumper stickers that say it's impossible to be both).  He fully understands the flak one gets for being gay and a Christian; nonetheless, Luke loves Adam (Mark Neufang) wholly and is devoted to his faith eternally. Two things that, turn out, aren't shared so easily.

What do you appreciate most about NEXT FALL?

NEXT FALL goes far beyond a typical love story.  It brings to light that Life is big and People are small; this play wittily shows us how these two assumptions meet.  And I'm really loving that I get to eat and be in my underwear onstage.

Why should audiences come see NEXT FALL?

Heavy topics like religion, love, and acceptance are scripted honestly in NEXT FALL. Each sometimes, as we know, just as ridiculous, and messy, and inexplicable as the other.

Plus... Men in underwear. Gay drama. Laughs. Let's be honest, it's better than what you were going to do anyhow.

Your role in NEXT FALL:

Butch

Briefly tell us a little about yourself (job, hobbies, passions, unique talents, etc).

When I am not in the employ of a western government, I find myself reading and writing—but not doing arithmetic.  Away from papers and pencils, I also swim and run—always toward things.

Have you worked with Tt before?

I am delighted to be working with Tt for the first time, in this special production about revelation, ruin, and restoration.

Tell us a little bit about your character in NEXT FALL.

Butch, Luke’s father and the former spouse of Arlene (about whom he cares a whole lot more than he lets on) appears at first viewing as a singularly one-dimensional person whose life is defined in bright lines and animated by simple trusts.  In tragedy, he begins—perhaps too late—to understand the gray areas and appreciate the unsettled places that we actually inhabit.

What do you appreciate most about NEXT FALL?

A spectacular cast of fellow actors, an inspiring directorial and production team, and a prize-winning story—simple and compelling—that will have audiences talking well into the evening and over breakfast the following day.

Why should audiences come see NEXT FALL?

In her 1996 writing, “Necessary Losses,” Judith Viorst confirms that none of us can be genuinely human without some measures of losing and leaving and letting go.  Geoffrey Nauffts plays expertly with that theme and others about the nature and the boundaries of relationship while also telling a supremely engaging—and, yes, downright funny—story.

Your role in NEXT FALL:

Adam

Briefly tell us a little about yourself (job, hobbies, passions, unique talents, etc).

I work as Director of Operations for Diverse and Resilient, a fantastic public health nonprofit agency serving diverse LGBT populations both in Milwaukee and statewide.  My passions are theatre and baking.  (I whip up a pretty mean tiramisu, if you ask me.)  I chronicle many of my baking endeavors and adventures on my Word Press blog, Neufangled Desserts.  I recently tested recipes for the popular bakery, Baked, in Brooklyn, and will be attending their Manhattan store opening and book launch during tech week of NEXT FALL (thanks to the patience and understanding of the cast and crew).  I turn 40 this November (the same age Adam is when he meets Luke) and I'm looking immensely forward to a decade in which I travel more!

Have you worked with Tt before?

NEXT FALL is my 5th show with Tt.  I performed in CORPUS CHRISTI (Simon), [title of show] (Jeff), THE NORMAL HEART (Ned Weeks), and THE TEMPERAMENTALS (Harry Hay).  I love Tt and its mission dearly - so much so that I keep coming back and auditioning, and became a Tt board member (Secretary) within the past year and built this website!

Tell us a little bit about your character in NEXT FALL.

Not to state the obvious, but Adam is really a very human person.  I think anyone can identify with him - he's not an unusual personality by any means.  He is flawed and not afraid to be upfront and honest about it.  He's also at a precarious, decisive point in his life where he's trying to discern where he is going, where he's been, and what it all means.  Luke, who is 15 years younger, suddenly enters Adam's life and sets many things in motion that he hasn't forced himself to confront before.  He could be enduring a mid-life crisis, but I think what he is experiencing throughout this story could happen to anyone at any indeterminate point.  Adam's vulnerable.  He can come off as a obsessive nut with a little bit of a jerk-ish side to him, but my challenge in portraying him is to avoid making that harsh side of him obnoxious, because it wouldn't be true to what the playwright intends him to be.

What do you appreciate most about NEXT FALL?

It is noted in the director's notes at the start of the script that "In the end, these are six relatable human beings in search of some kind of grace".  I really keyed into this when working with this script, and in the process of getting to know these very multi-faceted characters.  They each have their own story and struggles they are dealing with.  In many ways, NEXT FALL may be a play about faith and that clash between belief and non-belief, but it's not religious or preachy.  It's about the journeys in life we all need to be brave enough to face.  It's ultimately this really well-crafted dance between characters who are all lost and just finding their way with one another, determining where they really fit in the grand scheme of things.

Why should audiences come see NEXT FALL?

It seems cliché to just say this, but NEXT FALL truly runs the gamut of emotions.  I think any theatergoer can find something to appeal to them in this play.  It's a drama, and you may shed some tears - but there are moments where it's so comedic, you will want to laugh right out loud (and please DO).  It is very funny in spots.  I think the script is really wonderful.  There's a natural feel to it.  The conversation doesn't feel scripted at all, and the emotions are very real and relatable.  I'm so thrilled to bring this to the Milwaukee stage, and with such an amazingly talented cast: Amanda, Donna, Jim, Kevin, and Raymond - all under Mark E's direction - tell the story beautifully.  I think anyone coming to see it will be inspired and walk away with lots of good things to ponder... which good theatre should do, right?

Your role in NEXT FALL:

Arlene

Briefly tell us a little about yourself (job, hobbies, passions, unique talents, etc).

IP & Legal Operations Specialist at GE Healthcare, Four Guys groupie (hubby Don is in the group), GLBTA Ally, freelance choreographer

Have you worked with Tt before?

Dr. Emma Brookner in THE NORMAL HEART, Ensemble in THE LARAMIE PROJECT, Tt board member

Tell us a little bit about your character in NEXT FALL.

Arlene has an interesting back story. A bit of a wild child in her younger years, she wasn’t much of a mother but still loves her son the best way she knows how. She is funny and warm.

What do you appreciate most about NEXT FALL?

The show doesn’t preach but shows different religious viewpoints and lets the audience decide what they believe.

Why should audiences come see NEXT FALL?

It is a funny, warm contemporary play about real people facing real life situations that we all hope we never have to face.

YOUR ROLE IN NEXT FALL:

Brandon

BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF (JOB, HOBBIES, PASSIONS, UNIQUE TALENTS, ETC).

I am a Milwaukee native with many geeky and over-the-top obsessions. You can easily find me arranging my action figures in picturesque formations, performing a medley of Disney music to myself, or doing push-ups in strange places. Additionally, it is very likely I could be seen roaming the streets in a Spider-man suit. Besides acting, I’ve been freelance modeling for about 7 years. I currently work at Penzeys Spices while finishing my degree in Applied Theatre.

HAVE YOU WORKED WITH TT BEFORE?

Yup! I’ve edited and rendered video projections for [title of show], The Normal Heart, and The Laramie Project. I also performed on stage in both The Normal Heart and The Laramie Project. I ran the sound/light board for The Temperamentals.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN NEXT FALL?

I’ve read that Brandon is the most challenging role in the show, and in my experience with him so far, I completely agree! While the other characters have such a colorful energy, Brandon is a quiet man. He prefers to keep to himself and adheres strongly to his own reputation and values. The challenge here is finding the moments in the show where he lets his guard down, even a little; and then figuring out how to make those moments known in a way that’s believable.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT NEXT FALL?

I love that this show surprises you! It’s amazing how much hilarity is packed into this show, and it’s just as astounding the amount of heart and sentimentality there is as well. It’s a brilliant mix!

WHY SHOULD AUDIENCES COME SEE NEXT FALL?

I think everyone can come and find at least one character or something said that they identify with. The show brings up a matter of one’s beliefs. It represents everything that happens when what we think is challenged, and then how we react to that. Each character responds in their own way to figure out what matters most. It forces audiences to think, and I like to hope people appreciate that.
